In Process

I always intend to take photos of a painting as I'm working on it but I often get so caught up in the process that I forget.  Here are a couple of photos of a recently completed work.

I find it facinating to see how other artists go about creating a piece.  I would love to hear if you find it interesting too, and if so, what information about the process you would like to read more about.

Hi Susanne!

I'm so glad you did this. Yes, I am one of those who loves to see how a piece evolves from the starting concept through the stages that brought it to the finished piece.

Another area I'm curious about is what triggers the design and how much does that change from what you picture in your mind to the actual work to bring it to life?

Thanks! I look forward to seeing more.

By the way, another wonderful piece. I love your musical art work.

I think most creative people like to know how things evolve. Thank you for sharing this. The final result is great as usual.

It's really great to see your progressions on this piece. I'd love to read what you have to say about your decision making processes as you move from each stage.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Your comment Kathleen about what triggers the design and how it evolves through the process is a good one. I find it hard to remember what goes on when I am actually painting. It's as if I go into a bit of a dream and time passes by quickly. I do start with a basic idea to work out the design but I then let it take it's own path, just responding to what happens as I go along. I will try and pay more attention when I do the next painting. Perhaps I should try making notes as I go.

This is a lovely painting! Seeing how other's thoughts progress as they paint and how they interpret those thoughts is very inspirational.
